The live list of buy and sell orders waiting at each price level.
An order book shows resting bids below the market and asks above it, with the quantity available at each level. Centralised exchanges match trades against it continuously.
Reading depth reveals where large resting orders sit, though those orders can be pulled instantly, which is what makes spoofing possible.
