MSTR Stock Price Climbs 4% as Strategy Expands Bitcoin Holdings

Key Insights:

  • MSTR stock price rose about 4% on November 2 after Strategy announced another Bitcoin purchase.
  • Strategy added 811 BTC for $65.5 million, taking its total holdings to 849,327 BTC as of November 1.
  • The company also sold 1.18 million MSTR shares, raising $164 million, and bought back $208.2 million worth of STRC preferred stock.

MSTR stock price jumped about 4% on November 2, 2026, after the company’s latest filings and executive comments revealed new Bitcoin purchases.

The weekly SEC 8-K filed Nov. 2 showed that Strategy (MSTR) bought 811 BTC at an average price of $80,846, using proceeds from at‑the‑market equity sales.

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor confirmed on X that “Strategy has acquired 811 $BTC … As of 11/1/26, we hold 849,327 BTC and $4.9B of USD Assets.”

That lifted the company’s total Bitcoin holdings above 849,000 coins, roughly 4% of the total supply, and sent the MSTR stock price higher.

Bitcoin Buys Boost Strategy (MSTR) Stock Price

The rise in MSTR stock came after a pause in buys late last month.  In the week of Oct. 19–25, Strategy reported no Bitcoin transactions and held 848,517 BTC.

In contrast, the new purchase of 811 BTC (paid for with $65.5 million of the roughly $164.0 million net proceeds from share sales) pushed holdings to 849,327 BTC as of Nov. 1.

Strategy also repurchased $208.2 million of its STRC preferred stock during Oct. 26–Nov. 1.  The combined capital actions underscore how MicroStrategy’s strategy blends stock issuance and buybacks with Bitcoin accumulation.

The effect on the MSTR stock price was immediate. After the filings were public, the share price climbed as traders priced in the expanded Bitcoin reserve.

MicroStrategy stock is often treated as a proxy for Bitcoin exposure, so any new buying can bolster investor sentiment. Indeed, Saylor’s full statement on Nov. 1 noted not only the latest Bitcoin acquisition but also Strategy’s $4.9 billion cash reserves. A healthy cash buffer and aggressive capital deployment have helped the stock outperform Bitcoin itself in recent quarters.

Bitcoin Price Analysis and Long-Term Performance

For context, Bitcoin has been trading above $80,000 in recent weeks. Strategy’s filings show that earlier in Q3, when Bitcoin was about $81,200 on Oct. 23, its 848,517 BTC were valued around $68.9 billion.

That quarter saw Strategy report record operating income largely from a $20.91 billion unrealized Bitcoin gain, helping MSTR stock rise 76% even as Bitcoin price itself rose about 43%.

MicroStrategy’s stock traded near $144 per share after the earnings release, highlighting the leverage to Bitcoin’s price swings.

Still, historical performance is only one guide.  Strategy’s own metrics show the company has added 26% more BTC year-to-date in 2026.

The recent 811 BTC buy was its first reported purchase since adding 267 BTC in mid-October.  Each acquisition comes after raising equity or debt capital.

In this case, selling 1.18 million MSTR shares funded the purchase.  That issuance can put short-term pressure on the stock, but investors focus on the underlying Bitcoin treasury: more coins per share can support the long-term BTC price proxy effect.

MSTR Stock: Earlier Pullback and Market Reaction

The rebound to a 4% gain follows recent setbacks. Late October saw Strategy pause Bitcoin buys and devote $205 million to preferred-stock repurchases, and on Oct. 29 the stock fell as Q3 revenue slightly missed forecasts.

The company reported $125.4 million in revenue vs. $127.2 million expected. CFO Andrew Kang also announced he will step down in early November.

Those developments weighed on the stock, which closed around 138–142 in late October. The Nov. 2 surge suggests investors have shifted focus back to the Bitcoin accumulation strategy.

MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin-centric corporate strategy means fluctuations in Bitcoin price and treasury moves tend to drive its share price.

Current support near $81,000 per coin means Strategy’s recent buys were at relatively low levels. If the BTC price holds or continues to climb, the additional 811 BTC should increase the company’s market value.

But as Strategy itself has noted, the effect on MSTR stock price depends on sustained demand and the broader Bitcoin market.

The stock could rally further if investors believe incoming capital will keep outpacing any sell pressure from the company’s capital plans. Conversely, any pullback in Bitcoin price might test this recovery.
