Limit Order
An instruction to trade only at a specified price or better.
A limit order guarantees your price but not that it will fill. It rests in the book until the market reaches it or you cancel it.
Because it adds liquidity rather than taking it, most exchanges charge lower maker fees on limit orders that sit in the book before executing.
